The Skellingtons of Nosleep Part 2
stamp. slide. click. stamp. slide. click.
This was all my first day of being a nosleep emplyee consisted of. Filing papers away. Stamp the date, slide it over, staple. Stamp the date, slide it over, staple. By hour two I was sick of this. I yelled out to the people around me. Skellingtons, doing nosleep's dirty work. "WHAT ARE THESE PAPERS?" I yelled. The guy next to me shrugged. "You're a newbie, huh? Well these are rejected nosleep stories. Stories the mods have removed. We stamp, slide, and staple them. Once done they're archived. What's your name?" he asked. I stuck my head back, an incrediculous look on my face.
"Employee number 1801231. Duh." I said. He laughed, shaking his balding yet shiny head. "That ain't ur name stoopid." he said, eyes turning into black oasises. I gulped. He leaned closer to me, the outside world fading away, a gravely noise rising, his head twitching. Until he suddenly stopped and everything returned to normal. I choked on a terrified cough.
"So, what's your name?" he repeated. What was my name? I guessed. "Jose." I answered. He laughed. Finally, he continued his work. I let out an exasperated breath and began to stamp, slide, click all over again.
It was finally lunch time. We had paper for lunch. Rotting stories that had been archived. Each at least 11 months old. They had a sour taste to them. Dusty. Once they were resting between my rib cage i would pick them up and eat them again. Never curing my unending hunger. I wet my bones with water, gulping it down. The dude from earlier laughed at me. "Newbie." he said. I looked at him. "You can't eat anything." I set my glass down and looked away in shame. I couldn't eat!
A skelly pulled me aside, shoving a phone in my face. "You have a call." he insisted, jutting it forward. I slowly took it. "Hello?" the person said, voice grumbly as if he'd said it many times.
"Hello?" i answered. The voice sighed. "It's Carlos." Carlos said. "I'm sorry for shooting you and sending you to Nosleep. It wasn't nice. But you left me no choice—YOU POSTED THAT STO-" I removed the phone from my face and listened to him ramble. The phone smiled at me, words appearing saying it's name was "Phone." I smiled back. Carlos was finally done. "Carlos." i said. He groaned. "Wat?" he asnwered.
"Can you get me outta here? i h8 it." i begged. He laughed. "Yeah right. But... I might have an idea."
He hung up and the skelly pulled the phone away, gripping my shirt. "There's no room for Newbie's like you." he grunted into my ear. I shoved him away. "Sure." i said. He clanked his boney fingers around my neck. "Don't go in the water." he warned, and vanished. I laughed. What a dimwit.
