Mr. Perfect

You've all heard stories about strange beings, monsters and ghosts - many of you have no doubt began to grow tired of the stories trying to convince you that some new and horrific creature is lurking under your bed or waiting in the shadows.

So I will spare you the usual and simply say that what you are about to hear can neither be confirmed nor denied - in the end I leave the final decision in your capable hands, after all... nothing I can say or do can convince you to believe, it is something you must decide for yourself...

Now, let's begin the story of my encounter with something I have come to know as "Mr. Perfect".

Mr. Perfect first appeared to me when I was engaged in my favorite pass-time of channel surfing - flicking through the many stations that cable TV provided, barely even glancing at the screen as I checked the clock on the wall every now and then, knowing fine well I should have been asleep hours ago.

After a few minutes of mindlessly flicking through channels my TV turned to static - an occurrence that rarely happened in this day and age, normally if the TV broke a blank screen would appear: yet there I was confronted with static, the buzzing sound making me jump if only for a brief moment.

I pressed a few buttons on my remote as if testing to see if I could fix the problem or change channel but nothing happened, even trying to switch the TV off did nothing and I got up to investigate further.

It was then that a figure appeared on the screen, causing me to freeze in place, resembling a well-dressed man with strange glowing eyes. The figure simply smiled at me, and extended a hand as if inviting me to a friendly handshake, the buzzing of static being the only sound in the room.

My heart raced as I watched this apparition for a few moments, unable to move or think, then the figure vanished and the TV switched off.

As soon as the image vanished I exited the room and had to go over to a friends house for a while, my memory is still rather fuzzy of that night but my friend still claims when I had arrived I was shaking and as "pale as a ghost": so much so that my friend insisted I stay the night.

The following day I got myself together and after discussing things with my friend realized how stupid the whole experience was, my friend theorized I had dreamed the whole thing up as a result of one too many late nights and I in turn began to feel like an idiot for bothering him, though he insisted it was "no big deal".

Now for the part of the story I know many of you will roll your eyes at but I'll share anyways, a few weeks after my experience with "Mr. Perfect" I got curious, despite trying to dismiss the whole thing as a dream, so I decided to type up information on the phenomena online, expecting it to reveal very little.

To my surprise it seems quite a few people had experienced similar encounters with a well-dressed figure and static, either on a television set or computer screen (some even claimed to have had similar experiences on hand-held devices).

Now I admit that did creep me out a little but it could be explained in a similar way to ghosts or aliens, I mean, the experiences were similar but it did not mean they had to be related...

Either way, I personally have not had another encounter with "Mr. Perfect" and to be quite frank I don't really ever want to.

As for whether or not the "Mr. Perfect" phenomena is real or the product of collective imagination gone wild, I'm not really sure... I guess, as the old saying goings, you'll need to figure that out on your own...
