Mega Man: Upon A Star: Director's CUT
Author's note: lol this is really unnecessarily long and clunky so I won't shame the admins for deleting it or editing it to hell and back, I'm literally making this story up as I go, it's not my proudest work
Hello. My name is Kyle (not really, for privacy reasons). I happen to be a big Mega Man fan. But after this incident, I'm debating that fact now.
I was taking a walk when I happened upon a DVD. It was in an otherwise empty cardboard box near the edge of the woods. On the disk was in crude Sharpie, "Mega Man: Upon A Star: Director's CUT". And first off, wow, a director's cut of an old OVA? Cool! Second, why was 'CUT' in all uppercase? And third, why two colons? BAD GRAMMAR BAD GRAMMAR
I happen to be an English teacher. this part of the story is totally relevant
Well, anyway, I took the surprisingly-not-very-scratched-disk and went home. I put it into my Blu-ray Player and... nothing. What was I expecting from a disk I found in the woods? As I leaned over to take it out of the player, it suddenly flickered on. It was weird, the selection screen was blank black with simple white text in a list:
- Episode 1
- Episode 2
- Episode 3
I selected 1 and sat back to watch. It came on normally and the tape was fine. Until.
And there's always an until.
Until the part where Mega Man runs out of energy at Yuuta's school. When Yuuta offers him soup, and when he's normally supposed to ask for an E-Tank, there was... nothing. Mega Man didn't say a thing. He just lay there, lifeless. The children were panicking and Yuuta brought him back home. He tried to give him an E-Tank but he just wouldn't move. It was like he was dead.
Wait...
Is Mega Man dead?!
I hope not
So, Yuuta and his sister Akane went to sleep solemnly that night. But, he had forgotten he had put in Mega Man 1 in the NES and he forgot he left it on, much like how it kickstarted the plot in the beginning of the OVA! It was on the boss select screen. As the camera panned in on the TV, it then panned in on Cut Man. His sprite's pupils shifted to look at the camera, and then before you could say "Tears are a clear liquid secreted by the lacrimal glands (tear gland) found in the eyes of all land mammals. Their functions include lubricating the eyes (basal tears), removing irritants (reflex tears), and aiding the immune system.", he was out of the TV like Mega Man and Wily.
He landed (without a crash-landing like the others before him) and looked around the room. Then, without warning, he shot a glance at the viewer and... stayed there. For what seemed like 10 whole seconds of silence as he stared blankly at the camera. Then, a grin slowly creeped onto his face as he stared at me. I got chills up my back as this for some reason really, REALLY freaked me out, more than it rationally should've. I inched a few spaces backwards from my TV, and then he finally turned away from me. It c u t to a shot of Mega Man, unconscious, in the room where he was previously left. A familiar shadow walked up and loomed over him. Two bright red lights where the eyes would be faded in on the shadow. I trembled. "Mega Man, wake up!" I whisper-shouted, hoping he would somehow hear me. But low and behold, the shot simply faded to black. I was really scard.
The next scene started and it was normal again, except for the fact Mega Man was nowhere to be seen. Yuuta hopped onto Rush by himself and they were off. And they both looked very sad and concerned. And when he was flying on Rush's back, he was shouting, "MEGA MAN! WHERE ARE YOU?!" and this almost drove me to tears, which are a clear liquid secreted by the lacrimal glands. The poor kid couldn't find his new friend anywhere and he was probably running out of time. He looked more and more upset every time he called and didn't get a response. Rush was now also whining. But that's when a strange-looking gust of wind blew and it blew Yuuta off of Rush!! He fell and when he hit the ground the screen was covered in BLOOD. I didn't see what happened to him fully, and frankly, I don't want to. The blood was enough for me. I gagged. I don't like blood. The dog then landed next to the human with shock and horror on his face and he cried. I was very sad.
I wanted to turn it off but for some reason I was inclined to finish watching it. The next scene was Yuuta's funeral. His family was there and even some of the robots like Rush and Eddie were there, and they all were very very sad. This drove me to more tears. But then, the lights in the place went out and when they turned back on EVERYONE WAS DEAD AND THERE WAS HYPER-DAMN-REALISTIC BLOOD EVERYWHERE!! I was going to be sick. The camera panned over all the hyper-realistic entrails and gore splattered everywhere. Then, it finally ended with a shot of... CUT MAN! He was covered in blood and he had glowing red eyes. He had a huge grin and blinked, and when he did he suddenly had jet-black eyes with red pupils, and he stared RIGHT AT ME. "Whoopsie." He said in a glitched voice. It wasn't the Ruby-Spears voice tho lol. It was more like the Powered Up one, which is strange, because MMPU wouldn't come out until 2006, and this OVA was animated in the 90s. I was now sobbing and I screamed "WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO, YOU HEARTLESS MONSTER?!" at the TV. Unfortunately my neighbors heard me and then the cops showed up at my door. I settled it with them and even let them in for tea. When they left, I went back to the TV and saw that Cut Man had a very annoyed look on his face and his arms crossed. "Ok, where was I?" I said, "Oh yeah! ahem. WHAT THE FUCK CUT MAN" I screamed again, my face wet with tears. He just blinked and his eyes went glowing red again and he levitated away. What.
It then c u t right to the shot where Wily launched a nuke and Proto Man has to defuse it. But the difference was, Proto didn't stop it in time and the nuke exploded. It killed everyone in Japan and even some other countries too. Except Proto Man, he just levitated in the air for a second before shrugging and straight up leaving. You legend, Blues. But now everyone was dead. It showed the ruined city of Tokyo and amongst the debris, walking down the street, was the blood-soaked orange man himself. He walked quietly for a solid minute as the song from Suicidemouse.AVI played. The song ended when he stopped suddenly, as he stood in front of the ruined remains of Yuuta and his family's house. He stared blankly for a little bit, before starting to sing the song & by Tally Hall. Now, wtf, Tally Hall wouldn't be formed until 2009, let alone that particular song, and this was again made in the 90s, so i was totally dumbfounded. As he sang he looked through the debris of the house and found the absolutely-destroyed NES. He took it, and flew off with it. Then that was the end of that episode. I really didn't want to watch anymore, but it was as if a force made me select the next episode.
It started completely differently than the normal OVA. It was Roll. She was hiding in an old warehouse and crying, which I assumed was due to the nuke. She was realistically sobbing, like if they recorded the suffering of a real-life person. This went on for 2 minutes, and since I literally had absolutely nothing else to do, I sat there and watched it for 2. Minutes. I was crying even more now. After 2 minutes, which is the length of the average 100 gecs song, he... HE walked in. Roll turned and stared at him sadly. He just had a blank look on his face. After the silence, Roll said quietly, "Please Cut Man. Stop this. This isn't you, Cut Man, please stop hurting people." He shook his head. "THIS IS ME! THIS IS THE REAL ME! YOU ALL NEVER CARED ABOUT ME AND YOU ALL UNDERESTIMATED ME. YOU THOUGHT I WAS WEAK AND WHEN I MADE PUNS TO SEEM MORE APPEALING, YOU ALL HATED THOSE TOO! YOU ALL HATE ME!" His angry speech turned into black-colored tears of anger and devastation. He was crying, and Roll simply gazed at him with a blank, tired and sad face. "We... I'M sorry, Cut Man. I was a fool for ever doubting you. And now, seeing what destruction you're capable of, I know you're much more than you seem. We should have treasured you just like anyone else. I'm so sorry." She said tiredly. Cut Man shook his head with his hands on the sides of his head, black tears streaming down his face, and said angerly, "I... except your apology... but it's too late to apologize now. You must go just as I disposed of everyone else." Before he could kill her, she looked up with a look of anger but determination on her face. "Bring it on." She said. She put on a modified Sniper Joe helmet and homemade brass knuckles made of Met-helmet material. Oh shit. DOOM music then started playing, and they had the most epic battle in the world I can't even explain it, it was so cool. But I can tell you it ended in a tie. "You are fairly strong, I must admit, Roll. But you haven't seen my final form."
He then was surrounded by light and transformed into a giant pair of orange scissors. He rushed towards Roll but she picked up a pebble off the floor and threw it, and he died. Hyper-realistic BLOOD was everywhere. I was scared again. Then Roll turned to me and said, "Kyle. You need to go somewhere safe. Cut Man may have been pacified for now, but he won't be for long. He knows your IP address, Kyle. You need to get out of here, lest he find you too. Stay safe."
Oh no. I had to run. I didn't even question how she knew my name, I just needed to run.
I ran and ran through the streets and made it all the way to an old shed in the woods. Sort of like the one in Pig starring Nick Cage. I was cold and I slept on the floor and had spooky nightmares. Then Cut Man found me and I threw rocks at him and he died again. The end.
Also I never did watch episode 3, I wonder what happened on it.
Feel free to go to my house and watch it for me, thanks
