Lament for a Lost Pup

One day I found a lost pup in the street.

Its fur muddy-brown spotted with black.

A very little dog, possibly a terrier cross.

I picked it up at once and took it home.

My brother wanted it for a snack, and we fought.

Then my mother took my mongrel away

And I never saw my little bundle of fur again.
