Coraline - Bad Ending
The DVD release from the 2009 movie adaptation of Coraline was planned to have a secret ending that would be unlocked after the movie was fully watched at least one time, and that after unlocked, would acessible on the scene selecting menu. This "secret ending" would be basically the Bad Ending: what would happen if Coraline didn't manage to win the game deal she made with The Beldam.
However, the video file was oficially cancelled and sealed on the CD's files in a,at first, fully locked way. On 2013,in a forum focused on animated movies, some hackers with anonymous identities claimed that they hacked the original Coraline CD,finding a MP4 file that was the supposed bad ending of Coraline, named "coraline-beldamwins.mp4″. The file was avaliable for download on all the posts of the hackers that hacked the CD.
The video started with a defeated Coraline entering on the fading Other House, and entering on the living room to face The Beldam. Coraline didn't speak anything, but the Beldam's dialogue was the same as the original one. When Coraline extended the palm of the hand to show the eyes of the children (and sadly let The Beldam pick them, unlike the original movie),it was revealed only two eyes, showing she lost the last eye for the rat of upstairs. The Beldam, then, picked the box with the needle and the two buttons, putting it in-front of Coraline.
...and at this point, this video loses its simple nature.
The Beldam painfully shoved the claws on Coraline's eyes,as cherry red blood, apparently created with modeling clay, began to flow. The young heroine screamed of pain, tried to struggle, but it didn't work. Soon, the eyes were out,as Coraline endlessy "cried" tears of blood. Then, the Beldam picked the needle and, slowly and painfully, made what she did to the other children that were unlucky enough to accept her offering: sew button eyes on Coraline. It was explict on every possible detail the stop-motion style of the movie could do. Then, after the horrible scene, the viewers would be given a view of Coraline Jones with a sad face, button eyes sewn in the place of her eyes, apparently looking at the screen, for five quiet minutes. Not even a "defeated"-style music would be playing on the scene. Just, plain silence.
Then, suddenly,Coraline would open a smile, and the screen would go black, with Coraline timid laugh of sadness turning into a psychotic one, indicating The Beldam actually made her her servant trought mind-control,and didn't just eat her flesh. Afterwards, the normal credits played out. But,instead of the normal post-credit scene featuring the rats, there was another one,of a image where the button-eyed Coraline in the outift she has in the third visit to the Other World is,alongside The Beldam on her first form, the latter wrapping her arm over the former's torso. But it wasn't the most creepy detail. The most creepy detail was the blood on the two sides of the mirror, with the bits of cloths of the real parents of Coraline, and above everything,a message written with Coraline's parents blood:
"YOU WILL BE MY SWEETEST FAIRY."
Many users replied on the posts that had the video avaliable for download that Laika, and mainly Henry Selick, were crazy on thinking about this alternate ending. Others said that probably Laika and Henry Selick weren't the real responsible ones for the idea and execution, but that it all was actually the idea of a man that Laika soon fired from the studio. One of those users also theorized that the man that had the idea for this alternate ending was actually a psycopath that mudered four children, that used his lastest crime as a inspiration for Coraline's alternate ending and was soon fired and sended to jail one week before the CD could go to the stores. What you are about to read will be the post of this user, whom named themselves as "LaikaTheTheories12".
I personally believe I got who was the responsible for this alternate ending.
And it wasn't Henry Selick, and much less Laika.
Actually,it was a man. This man would disguise himself as an children caretaker, that would be paid off to take care of some specific children. But this man actually was a psycopath. And four unlucky children soon found it out.
This man killed his victims by painfully removing their eyes and inserting something strange in place of them. Afterwards,he waited for the victim to either faint out of blood loss or try to sleep, and killed them by covering their body with knives.
Some months after his fourth crime, where he inserted red buttons on the eye sockets of a ten-years-old girl and made her his slave for one month,he went to work with Laika, who was making off the movie Coraline. He gave the suggestion for a ending unlockeable on the CD release where the heroine would fail to collect the eyes of the children and would become The Beldam's slave for eternity. Laika never knew that he wanted to show to all the world his lastest crime disguised as the alternate ending of a movie that was based on a book.
Thankfully,Laika noticed the error, fired the man,and Henry Selick told to the police about the man,who was already a suspect. The CD was edited and was free to be released.
How do I know this? Well,my father is a police man,and one day,as he returned from the work,he accidentaly dropped a dirt piece of paper with some writtings. Before giving it to my father,I readed it. And I found this writting here,to use as a base for my theory:
'FOUR CHILDREN ARE DEAD
SOON,CORALINE WILL BE TOO...
OH NO,THEY FOUND OUT
I CAN'T STOP MY LEGACY He'
Probably, the theory from the user may be truthful, or not. But there is a good reason why Laika choosed "Be Careful What You Wish For" as the tagline of Coraline.
